Identical twins Gary and Paul were born and raised in a small sleepy English village. But their destiny was written in the stars.
From an early age they sensed the irresistible lure of the stage and revelled in the bright lights of performance. The Twins were introduced into the world of magic at the tender age of eight, when their parents gave them a magic set for Christmas. Little did they realise just how influential their little gift would turn out to be! But their first “illusion act” occurred much earlier – in fact before they were even born.
Their parents had been totally unaware that they were expecting twins, despite all the usual check-ups and scans throughout the pregnancy. Although a scan normally shows up the two heartbeats and shapes, it appears that one baby was always positioned in front of the other during the scans, giving the 'illusion' that this was a normal 'single delivery' pregnancy. Gary was born first and his mother was wheeled up to the recovery room before doctors realized that a second baby was on its way. Paul was delivered 20 minutes later! Their father, who was doing his pacing in the waiting room, was first given the news that he had a healthy baby boy and then was told that there were in fact two!
Through their childhood they gradually refined their skills to become accomplished masters of their art, able and always willing to baffle their family and friends with their tricks and deftness. In those days The Twins would rehearse anywhere and everywhere they could – to the occasional confusion of those around them. "One day, when no one was at home, we were rehearsing this complicated levitation and our mum came home unexpectedly from work," says Gary. "She walked into the kitchen and nearly collapsed in amazement as my brother floated in mid-air over the kitchen table" added Paul.
Since then the future has never looked brighter and their career has skyrocketed. As for the future of their art form The Twins are certainly original and are constantly striving to devise, develop and perfect illusions which defy logic. It's time to bring magic and illusion to the 21st century and it's The Twins who will make this happen.
